"Dreaming of Outdshoorn", 16x40"
This piece is inspired by a photograph and memory of a place I lived for 4 weeks among three 10-year-old elephants named Malika, Jabari, and Bulelo. These are the 3 beautiful animals you will see in the slides to the left.
This magical place is called “Buffelsdrift Game Lodge”, and is located in Oudtshoorn, South Africa. The particular photograph that inspired this piece (you can also see this in the slide show) is of a daily view I had during my time there. In the water hippos swam. On the land antelope wandered and crossed my paths. This is where the elephants walked. Where giraffe were caught drinking water (a very rare sight). It was the most amazing, life-changing experience to have experienced this life, even for a short time.
Welcome to the Wild Places, love.
