"Serpent's Daydream", 24x36"
You may be wondering about the title of this piece. Well, let me tell you the meaning behind it with a story.
This painting was inspired by a few photographs of “Simpson’s Gap” and a few other watering holes located in the red desert of Australia. The aboriginals of this area believe that the watering holes were created by serpents during their daydreaming time, hence the name of this painting.
I visited this place in 2015 when I traveled to go visit my good friend, Kaitlyn, who lived in and took care of the desert and it’s creatures for years. She taught me so much of the land here— we even went exploring to find original aboriginal artwork on the red rock walls in the most hidden little corners of the desert— places that regular tourists will never see. I am so grateful for this experience and my time spend traveling and exploring with this amazing, curious, fearless woman.
Welcome to the Wild Places, love.
24x36”, mixed media on canvas. Custom pine floater frame included. Painting comes ready to hang.
