Honey Meadows
This painting is inspired by my childhood springtime memories and the vast meadows that attract the bees during the pollinating season. The colours in this painting are delicate, warm and cozy, just like the hues of spring flowers and honey combs.
When I was a young girl, my mother bought me disposable cameras because I loved taking pictures of the flowers in springtime. This was back in the day when film cameras were kinda expensive and we didn't have the beauty of free, digital photography, so getting a disposable camera and developed photos was actually quite the treat (Thanks Mom!). If I could, I would spend hours photographing my Little Pony toys amongst the flowers.
…I've always really loved springtime. One thing I particularly loved was watching the bees explore and nestle in each flower. One day as I was photographing my toys in the flowers, I was overcome with fascination by the bees… so I tried to touch one of them and quickly learned that they sting! I never tried to touch one again, of course, but to this day if I spot a bee pollinating a flower, I remain completely fascinated, just as my little girl self, and take a small moment to pause and admire nature at work.
Honey meadows are full of wonder during the springtime.
May this painting remind you of the things you found fascinating as a child, and the joys life brings when you are reminded of such things when you see the world through the lens your children’s eyes.
